Thrill seekers and roller coaster fans in Maryland will soon have to find a new destination for their adrenaline rush.
Six Flags Entertainment Corporation announced in May that it will permanently close Six Flags America and Hurricane Harbor in Bowie, Maryland, on November 2, 2025, ending 25 years of operation. The company plans to sell off the 500-acre property for redevelopment.

Why the Closure?
The closure is part of Six Flags’ ongoing portfolio optimization program to streamline its business and focus resources on other locations.
Currently, Six Flags America employs about 70 full-time associates, all of whom will be eligible for severance packages and other support during the closure process.

What Will Happen to the Rides?
The company has not yet finalized plans for the rides and attractions. Options include relocating them to other parks or selling them to other operators, but no decisions have been made.
