Brian Head Resort Sets Record with Longest Ski Season in History

BRIAN HEAD, Utah — Brian Head Resort, located in southern Utah, is set to achieve a historic milestone as it concludes its longest ski season ever. On May 4, 2025, the resort will wrap up a record-breaking 178 skiable days, surpassing last season’s previous high of 174 days.

The resort’s ski season began early this year, with daily top-to-bottom skiing kicking off on November 8, 2024, marking Brian Head as the first ski destination in Utah to open for the season.

In addition to the extended season, Brian Head has also broken its visitation record this winter. A combination of popular activities—such as free first-timer lessons, weekend night skiing, live music, an upgraded terrain park, and community events like “Ski with a Ranger”—helped foster a lively atmosphere, according to the resort’s press release.

Amber Palmer, marketing manager at Brian Head Resort, highlighted the resort’s success, attributing it to a dedicated staff, an early opening in November, and strategic investments in snowmaking technology. “We’ve delivered our longest season yet—all while keeping skiing affordable for everyone,” Palmer said.

Known for offering budget-friendly lift tickets, Brian Head has maintained its reputation for affordable skiing. Lift tickets at the start of the season were priced as low as $19, and for the remaining days of the season, tickets range from $19 to $49, making it an accessible option compared to many other ski resorts.

To celebrate the season, Brian Head will host a pond skim event on April 26 at the lower end of the Race Course on the Giant Steps side. Participants will compete for awards in categories such as best trick, best costume, worst crash, and successful switch.

After Brian Head’s season ends on May 4, skiing will continue at other Utah resorts, including Brighton, Snowbird, and Solitude. Snowbird plans to offer skiing until May 26, while Solitude and Brighton will close on May 11 and May 18, respectively.

Established in 1964, Brian Head Resort offers 650 acres of lift-served trails and averages nearly 360 inches of snowfall annually. It is located approximately a four-hour drive from Salt Lake City, Utah.
