Groundbreaking Ceremony Marks Start of Osaka’s First Integrated Resort with Casino

by Evelyn

A groundbreaking ceremony was held Thursday for Japan’s first integrated resort featuring a casino, set to rise on the artificial island of Yumeshima in Osaka. The resort, which is slated for completion by the fall of 2030, will be located near the venue for the 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo.

The resort will span 492,000 square meters on the northern part of Yumeshima and will include not only a casino but also three hotels, as well as an international hotel. The project is designed with noise reduction measures to minimize disruption during its construction.

To accommodate the ongoing Expo, which runs on the southern side of the island until October 13, construction work will pause during major holidays. Additionally, the bulk of the piling work is scheduled to resume in December, after the Expo concludes.

This development marks a significant step in the expansion of Japan’s tourism and entertainment industry, with the resort expected to become a major attraction for both domestic and international visitors.
