Rafa Nadal Museum Unveils Roland Garros Tribute Space Honoring 14-Time Champion

by Evelyn

The Rafa Nadal Museum in Manacor has unveiled a dedicated exhibition space celebrating Rafael Nadal’s unparalleled legacy at Roland Garros, where the Spanish tennis legend claimed a record 14 titles.

The new area features all 14 of Nadal’s Coupe des Mousquetaires trophies, accompanied by the racquets he used during his victories in Paris and the signature Nike bandanas worn in each winning year. A visual montage of Nadal hoisting the trophies, alongside an infographic charting his extraordinary statistics on the Parisian clay, offers visitors an immersive look at one of the most dominant eras in tennis history.

A centerpiece of the exhibit is a replica of the sculpture commissioned by Roland Garros to honor Nadal’s achievements. Originally presented by the French Tennis Federation and tournament director Amélie Mauresmo, the sculpture will be spotlighted again in Paris on May 25 during a special tribute to the 22-time Grand Slam champion.

Also on display is a striking life-size sculpture of Nadal celebrating on his knees, created by Nike in 2014. Weighing 150 kilograms, the piece was previously housed at Nike Europe’s headquarters and is now being exhibited in Manacor for the first time.

The exhibit is further enhanced by four large screens presenting emotional audiovisual content, chronicling Nadal’s journey at the French Open. A unique detail of the space includes 112 tennis balls, each symbolizing one of Nadal’s 112 match victories at Roland Garros.

Beyond the Roland Garros tribute, the museum features a new Olympic area showcasing the torch Nadal carried during the opening ceremony of the upcoming 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. This space also includes his medals and other memorabilia from past Olympic appearances. Additional highlights include the final racquet bag used in Nadal’s career and the shirts worn by both Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz during their Olympic doubles match.

The Rafa Nadal Museum continues to be one of Mallorca’s leading tourist attractions, offering a variety of digital and interactive sports activities suitable for visitors of all ages. Interactive experiences span across multiple sports, including tennis, football, Formula 1, basketball, and cycling, all presented in high-tech, engaging environments.

In addition to showcasing Nadal’s illustrious career, the museum features items donated by other global sports icons such as Michael Jordan, Fernando Alonso, Valentino Rossi, Tiger Woods, Pau Gasol, Roger Federer, Mireia Belmonte, Usain Bolt, Serena Williams, Marc Márquez, and Cristiano Ronaldo.

A portion of the museum’s proceeds supports the Rafa Nadal Foundation, contributing to charitable initiatives aimed at providing opportunities for children and youth through sports and education.
