Khandbari, June 4 — The seasonal bloom of bougainvillea, gulmohar, and jacaranda flowers has turned Pathak Gaun, a village in Khandbari Municipality-8 of Sankhuwasabha district, into a growing attraction for domestic tourists.
With the arrival of summer, the vividly colored blossoms have transformed the village landscape, drawing hundreds of visitors each day. Among the highlights is a striking bougainvillea tree in the courtyard of local resident Umesh Shrestha, which has become a centerpiece of attention.
On average, around 500 domestic tourists visit the village daily, many stopping to take photographs, film social media content, and enjoy the cool shade of the flowering trees. The brilliant hues—particularly the deep reds and golden tones—have created a picturesque atmosphere that has spread across the area.
“This tree was originally planted for ornamental purposes,” Shrestha said. “Now, the village sees large crowds, especially on Saturdays and public holidays.”
As jacaranda and bougainvillea blooms continue to spread throughout the community, the village has taken on a vibrant and festive appearance. The visual transformation has contributed significantly to increased tourist footfall.
Tourism experts note that with coordinated efforts from local authorities and relevant stakeholders, the natural beauty of Pathak Gaun could be developed into a sustainable tourism draw for the wider Khandbari area.
