A well-frequented splash pad in Cambridge has been temporarily shut down due to a technical malfunction, according to a statement issued by the local council.
The Coleridge splash pad, situated alongside a paddling pool at Coleridge Recreation Ground on Davy Road, is currently out of service. The city council confirmed efforts are underway to restore the facility and resume operations as soon as possible.
“The splash pad on Coleridge Recreation Ground is not working. We are working to reopen it as quickly as we can. The paddling pool is open as normal. We apologise for any inconvenience this causes,” the council said in a public notice.
The water play area, which reopened to families in May, is typically accessible daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. until early September. It forms part of a broader children’s recreational zone that includes a playground and shallow paddling pool. The site is equipped with picnic benches and public restrooms, and parking is available along Davy Road.
Despite the closure, several alternative water play options remain open across the city. Other splash pads in Cambridge include Kings Hedges and Abbey Splash Pad. Outdoor paddling pools are also available at Cherry Hinton, Lammas Land, and Sheep’s Green.
The Abbey Splash Pad, located behind Abbey Pool, features 11 interactive water elements such as tipping buckets, spray jets, and water cannons. Amenities at the site include picnic benches and free parking at the Abbey Leisure Complex, which also offers restrooms and other facilities.
Council officials have advised that all children using these amenities must be supervised by an adult at all times.
