Denver Approves Land Swap to Transform Former Golf Course into City’s Fourth-Largest Park

by Evelyn

Denver is moving forward with plans to convert the former Park Hill Golf Course into a regional park, with the city aiming to open the space to the public as early as this summer.

On Monday, the Denver City Council approved a land exchange agreement with Westside Investment Partners, the current owners of the 155-acre golf course in Northeast Park Hill. Under the deal, the city will swap the site for a 145-acre parcel it owns in Adams County near Denver International Airport. Both properties have been similarly appraised at approximately $12.8 million.

Once completed, the new park will become Denver’s fourth-largest, marking a significant milestone in efforts to resolve long-standing community debates about the future of the former golf course.

Although the land swap is scheduled to formally close in the fall, city officials have indicated that Denver will pursue a lease agreement with Westside Investment Partners. This temporary arrangement would allow the city to begin operating the park before the transaction is finalized.
