A proposed theme park project by Universal has garnered support from local leadership, with Councillor Richard Zerny describing it as “great news” for the area. The initiative is expected to deliver wide-ranging economic and infrastructural benefits.
Zerny highlighted the multifaceted advantages of the development, including new infrastructure, job creation during construction and ongoing operations, and a potential boost to local businesses. He also noted that the local council could benefit financially from the project.
However, he cautioned that significant infrastructure challenges must be addressed to support the development. “Junction 13 does need to be sorted out, and we also believe the roundabouts should be removed from the A1 to improve the flow of traffic. We will be pushing the government for solutions,” he said.
Emphasizing a proactive approach, Zerny added, “We want a lot for this area, and we’re going to demand a lot. Don’t ask, don’t get.”
According to Universal, the proposed development would incorporate substantial upgrades to the surrounding infrastructure, including improvements to major roadways and rail connections.
