Riyadh, May 21, 2025 — SPA — The Saudi Museums Commission and Kuwait’s Tareq Rajab Museum have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to enhance bilateral cultural cooperation and exchange expertise in museum management and Islamic heritage.
The agreement, signed in Riyadh by Mona Khazindar, Advisor to the Saudi Ministry of Culture, and Ziad Tareq Rajab, Director of the Tareq Rajab Museum, outlines several areas of collaboration. Key provisions include the exchange of research and scientific publications, the potential loan of artifacts from the Tareq Rajab Museum to institutions under the Saudi Museums Commission, and the organization of temporary exhibitions aimed at enriching cultural content and expanding public access to Islamic art.
To facilitate implementation, the MoU also establishes a joint working group of specialists responsible for developing actionable plans and overseeing knowledge-sharing and documentation efforts.
Khazindar noted that the agreement aligns with the Museums Commission’s strategy of forming strategic alliances with prominent private museums across the Arab world. She emphasized the Tareq Rajab Museum’s pivotal role in preserving Islamic heritage and its contribution to advancing cultural and academic exchange in the region.
Ziad Rajab welcomed the collaboration, describing it as a significant step in connecting museum practices across the Gulf and elevating the role of Islamic heritage in specialized exhibitions. He highlighted the agreement’s potential to enhance curatorial content and foster shared cultural narratives.
This initiative forms part of Saudi Arabia’s broader effort to expand its cultural footprint and strengthen regional partnerships in support of the Vision 2030 development agenda.
