Universal UK Theme Park Set to Feature Iconic Attractions, But Plans Remain Subject to Change

by Evelyn

A source familiar with the Universal UK project has shared exclusive details about the brands expected to headline the upcoming theme park in Bedford, set to open in 2031. The park, located in Kempston Hardwick, is scheduled for construction to begin next year, pending approval of planning permissions. However, sources have cautioned that these plans could undergo revisions.

Among the major attractions tentatively planned for the park are rides and experiences based on iconic franchises such as James Bond, Paddington, The Lord of the Rings, Back to the Future, Jurassic Park, and Minions. In addition to these, a stunt show inspired by the James Bond franchise is also being considered, potentially taking a similar format to the Bourne Stuntacular attraction at Universal Studios Florida.

The park’s design is expected to feature a number of indoor attractions. Drawing inspiration from the Epic Universe park in Florida, the source noted that many of the newer rides at Universal’s parks are located indoors, which could be the case for the Bedford location as well.

The announcement has sparked significant interest on social media, particularly on TikTok, where a video by @dawsonscreen discussing the theme park’s potential attractions has garnered over 70,000 likes.

Notably, the highly popular Harry Potter franchise is not expected to be part of the new park. While Universal parks around the world typically feature attractions based on J.K. Rowling’s beloved characters, the proximity of the park to the Warner Bros. Studio Tour in Leavesden, Hertfordshire—just a 40-minute drive away—has influenced this decision. The source clarified, “It is too early to know what attractions will be at the park.”

Universal aims to offer a distinctive experience at each of its locations, and the Bedford park will feature unique attractions that will not be replicated at its other sites. While a map of the park’s proposed layout has been released, it excludes specific details such as the iconic Hill Valley clock from Back to the Future.

As the park’s opening in 2031 draws nearer, more details are expected, though plans are still subject to change.
