Trichy – Minister for Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE), P.K. Sekar Babu, conducted inspections at the Arulmigu Jambukeswarar Temple in Thiruvanaikoil and the Arulmigu Samayapuram Mariamman Temple on Wednesday, amid ongoing festive celebrations at the temple complexes.
During his visit, the minister assessed various facilities and directed officials to begin renovation work in specific areas of the temples. He also emphasized the need to accelerate ongoing projects to enhance the infrastructure for devotees.
As part of his inspection, the minister toured the temple’s nandavanam (garden) and reviewed the condition of the drainage system. He also evaluated the bathing tank used for the temple elephant Akilaa, along with the adjacent cowshed.
Speaking to the media, Minister Sekar Babu announced the mandatory installation of notice boards to inform devotees about the temple’s golden chariot. He also highlighted the importance of maintaining the elephant shed and carrying out minor repair work to improve amenities for pilgrims.
Later in the day, the minister visited the Samayapuram Mariamman Temple, where he inaugurated newly installed lighting on the temple’s gopuram (tower), further underscoring efforts to enhance both functionality and aesthetics at prominent religious sites.
