From Engineering to the Wild: Photographer Masood Hussain Opens Fine Art Gallery and Launches Wildlife Tour Venture

by Evelyn

Hyderabad, India — Renowned wildlife photographer Masood Hussain, celebrated for his striking images of birds, mammals, and reptiles in their natural environments, has launched the Masood Hussain Fine Art Gallery in Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad. This marks a significant milestone in Hussain’s career, which has evolved from electrical engineering to international recognition in wildlife photography.

A former student of The Hyderabad Public School, Hussain began his photography journey in 2010 after purchasing his first DSLR. Fifteen years later, his passion has culminated not only in a physical gallery space but also in the launch of a custom wildlife tour company aimed at offering authentic wilderness experiences.

The gallery, located above Urban Nemo Café in Jubilee Hills, offers visitors an immersive experience with nature through a curated collection of Hussain’s work. The space also doubles as a premium gifting destination, with framed 18×12 inch prints available in elegant packaging. Each print is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity personally signed by the photographer.

“This gallery is a long-cherished dream,” Hussain said. “It’s meant to be a place where people can connect with nature in a tangible way. These prints are more than décor—they’re lasting gifts that carry the spirit of the wild.”

The choice of location came about serendipitously when Hussain visited the café with a friend. A violin performance led to an impromptu collaboration with the café’s partner, who embraced the idea of integrating a fine art gallery into the space.

The gallery, assembled in just a month, features a rotating collection exclusively comprising Hussain’s photographs. The latest addition, The Water Hole, captured at Pench National Park, Madhya Pradesh, is yet to be featured on his website. Despite 12 safaris and multiple tiger sightings during the trip, Hussain deemed this particular image the only one worth showcasing—underscoring his selective approach to curating work that captures nature with compelling composition and lighting.

Rather than focusing on specific species, Hussain’s work embraces the diversity of wildlife. “It’s not about rare species,” he explained. “It’s about good light and strong storytelling, even with something as common as an egret.”

Complementing the gallery, Hussain has also announced the launch of a customized wildlife tour company. Drawing on over a decade of field experience across India, the venture will offer guided, immersive wildlife tours for photographers, families, and nature enthusiasts. The initiative aims to bridge the gap between commercial wildlife tourism and authentic nature experiences.

“Many people express interest in joining my trips, but I couldn’t accommodate them while working,” said Hussain. “This company allows me to curate meaningful journeys with the right guides, the right locations, and a mentor’s touch.”

The tours will include photography workshops and are designed to avoid the pitfalls of mainstream tourism, such as staying outside core forest zones or relying on inexperienced guides. “A guide is the most important person on a wildlife trip,” he emphasized. “That’s what makes all the difference.”

With the gallery and tour company now underway, Masood Hussain continues to deepen his commitment to wildlife advocacy through art, education, and firsthand experience—bringing the wild a little closer to those who seek it.
