ABU DHABI — In a landmark move set to redefine regional tourism, the United Arab Emirates is slated to host the Middle East’s first-ever Disney theme park, bringing the globally celebrated brand closer to millions of families across Asia.
Announced during a special event on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, the new Disney resort will be developed through a strategic partnership between UAE-based developer Miral and The Walt Disney Company, which will oversee the park’s creative vision and attractions.
This development marks the seventh Disney theme park globally and the first in the Middle East, significantly shortening travel distances for South Asian tourists who previously had to fly to the United States, Europe, or East Asia to experience the magic of Disney.
The announcement was highlighted by Disney CEO Bob Iger, who described the project as a historic step in the company’s evolution. “In our 102-year journey, we’ve had many incredible moments. The opening of Disneyland in 1955 was one of them. Now, 70 years later, we are thrilled to announce the launch of another magical place — this time, right here in Abu Dhabi,” Iger said, as reported by Khaleej Times.
The new park will combine classic Disney storytelling with the region’s cultural influences, offering visitors a blend of familiar characters and local themes. It is expected to become a major tourism hub, drawing guests from the Gulf, South Asia, and other nearby regions.
The Abu Dhabi park joins the list of Disney’s international destinations, which currently includes:

Once completed, the Abu Dhabi resort is anticipated to become a top vacation destination for families, including those from Pakistan and neighboring countries, making Disney magic more accessible than ever before.
