OCALA, Fla. – The Ocala Wetland Recharge Park has been temporarily closed following the discovery of multiple sinkholes and areas of ground subsidence, city officials confirmed.
According to a statement released by the City of Ocala on Friday, the closure will remain in effect while a comprehensive assessment of the site is conducted. Photos shared by the city show significant ground depressions, with at least one sinkhole appearing to span several feet in depth.
The city has not provided a timeline for when the park might reopen, citing the need for safety and thorough evaluation of the affected areas.
