The Round Rock Public Library has introduced a new outreach initiative aimed at bringing library services directly into the community. Dubbed Library on the Go, the pilot program extends access to books, movies, and library card registration beyond the library’s physical location.
The mobile library service will make scheduled stops at city parks throughout the summer, offering residents an opportunity to sign up for library cards and check out materials on-site. The first event was held in late May at Frontier Park.
Designed to serve individuals who may face barriers in visiting the main library facility, Library on the Go seeks to foster literacy and community engagement through accessible and enjoyable interactions.
The program will operate from 9 to 11 a.m. on the following dates and locations:
Frontier Park (1804 Frontier Trail)
- Saturday, June 28
- Saturday, July 26
Mesa Village Park (1401 Georgetown St.)
- Saturday, June 14
- Saturday, July 12
- Saturday, August 9
To obtain a library card during these mobile sessions, individuals must present a valid government-issued photo ID, such as a driver’s license, passport, or military ID. A library card is required to borrow books and movies.
Borrowed items may be returned either to the main library or at any future Library on the Go event.
In addition to its mobile outreach, the Round Rock Public Library also offers delivery services for eligible residents within the city limits. This includes deliveries to private homes, senior living communities, assisted living centers, and nursing facilities.
The program reflects the library’s ongoing commitment to promoting reading and ensuring equitable access to resources for all members of the Round Rock community.
