Ayodhya Ram Mandir to Witness Consecration of Seven New Idols in Grand Vedic Ceremony on June 5

by Evelyn

Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh — Preparations are underway for the next major phase in the consecration of the Ram Mandir, with seven new idols set to be sanctified in an elaborate religious ceremony scheduled for June 5, 2025. The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has announced that the upcoming rituals will mark another significant milestone in the ongoing development of the temple complex.

Following the successful installation of Navagraha idols, the temple is entering the critical stages of Aushadhivas (herbal sanctification) and Shayadhivas (ceremonial resting), traditional Vedic rites believed to invoke peace, vitality, and divine presence. These ceremonies form part of the broader Pran Pratishtha process, during which life force is ritually infused into the idols.

A prominent feature of this phase is the installation of the Ram Darbar idol ensemble on the temple’s first floor, depicting Shri Ram along with Sita, Lakshman, Bharat, Shatrughan, and Hanuman. This divine tableau is considered the spiritual nucleus of the temple.

In addition to the Ram Darbar, six newly constructed shrines along the temple’s periphery will house idols of Surya Dev, Lord Ganesh, Hanuman Ji, Lord Shiva (Bholenath), Mata Bhagwati, and Mata Annapurna. The consecration of these deities is also scheduled for June 5 and is expected to be attended by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

Further enriching the spiritual landscape of the temple is the newly built Sapta Mandapam, where seven idols commemorating revered figures from the Ramayan tradition have been installed. These include:

  • Maharishi Agastya
  • Maharishi Vashishta
  • Nishad Raj
  • Ahilya

These personalities, deeply interwoven with Shri Ram’s journey, symbolize the temple’s inclusive spiritual ethos.

The consecration rituals are being conducted by distinguished acharyas and Vedic scholars from across the country, under the supervision of the Ram Mandir Trust. Key elements of the ceremonies include Agnihotra, specialized yajnas, Panchgavya purification rites, and the continuous recitation of Vedic hymns. Each idol’s sanctification will follow specific Vedic procedures intended to imbue the temple with heightened spiritual energy.

The Pran Pratishtha rites are regarded as the soul-installing ceremonies that transform carved statues into divine embodiments, enabling devotees to engage with the divine presence. As Ayodhya prepares for this landmark event, the city is poised once again to echo with the sounds of devotion, age-old chants, and spiritual celebration.
