On the evening of May 27, a mechanical malfunction at a theme park in Injambakkam, Chennai, left 36 individuals, including children, suspended mid-air for over an hour and a half. The incident occurred when the “Top Gun” ride, known for its full-circle revolutions, abruptly halted, leaving passengers stranded approximately 150 feet above the ground.
According to District Fire Officer Loganathan, the rescue operation commenced at 7:20 PM after initial attempts using a ladder proved unsuccessful. Subsequently, two sky lifts were deployed to safely evacuate all passengers. Approximately 35 personnel from the fire and rescue services, along with local police, participated in the operation. Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic, with passengers panicking due to the sudden halt and the absence of immediate assistance. One individual reportedly used social media to alert authorities.
