The 2025 theme park season in Germany is shaping up to be thrilling, as revealed by a comprehensive study conducted by Travelcircus, which evaluated 47 of the country’s best amusement parks. The analysis covered 1,129 attractions, comparing admission prices, online reviews, and visitor engagement to produce rankings and special awards for coaster excitement, family-friendliness, and overall value.
Once again, Europa-Park in Rust has secured the top position, reinforcing its reputation as Germany’s leading theme park. The park offers over 60 rides, including 14 roller coasters, and boasts a significant social media presence with nearly 792,000 Instagram posts.
Phantasialand in Brühl claims second place, largely credited to its acclaimed Rookburgh themed area, while Heide-Park in Soltau ranks third, noted for its nine coasters and strong value proposition.
The study highlights the high cost of family visits to major parks. A family of four visiting Europa-Park can expect to spend approximately €321, including parking. Phantasialand and LEGOLAND also come with substantial price tags exceeding €200 for families. The report advises purchasing tickets online in advance, as gate prices can be up to €43 higher.
For budget-conscious visitors, smaller parks such as Churpfalzpark, Schwaben Park, and Rasti-Land offer attractive cost-to-attraction ratios, providing affordable thrills without compromising the enjoyment factor. These parks present viable alternatives to the more prominent destinations.
Social media metrics emphasize Europa-Park’s dominant presence online, though smaller venues like Holiday Park and Fort Fun are noted for generating significant engagement and fostering dedicated fan communities.
Karls Erlebnis-Dörfer (Karls Adventure Villages) is gaining momentum, with the Döbeln location rising 14 places into the top 25 amusement parks nationwide. With family tickets priced below €50 and reasonable utility expenses, Karls parks are establishing themselves as budget-friendly, family-oriented destinations.
This latest Travelcircus study underscores the diverse options available to theme park enthusiasts in Germany, balancing thrilling experiences with cost and social appeal.
