SeaWorld San Antonio is set to expand its attraction lineup with a new $8.9 million roller coaster, according to recent filings with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR). The project, tentatively labeled “SWSA 2026,” signals a significant addition to the Texas amusement park, although many specifics remain under wraps.
The upcoming coaster will occupy nearly 4,000 square feet on the park’s northeast side, situated between the existing Steel Eel and Wavebreaker rides. This location is near SeaWorld Rescue Jr., a children’s play area that opened earlier this year. The new construction will replace parts of the area currently housing the Currents shopping center and the Dolphin Dive ride, a kid-friendly vertical drop attraction.
Official records describe the ride as a family-style inverted roller coaster featuring drilled concrete pier foundations. Construction is slated to begin on July 1, 2024, with a targeted completion date of June 1, 2026.
While SeaWorld San Antonio has not yet publicly announced the project, the filing follows a similar pattern to previous expansions, such as the SeaWorld Rescue Jr. area, which opened shortly after its licensing was filed. The park has indicated that official details and announcements will be released in the fall season.
