Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh – Thousands of devotees continued to converge on the holy city of Ayodhya for the second day of the Ram Darbar Pran Pratishtha ceremony at the newly constructed Ram temple. The three-day consecration, which commenced on June 3, is scheduled to conclude on June 5, coinciding with the sacred occasion of Ganga Dussehra.
The installation of deities—Lord Ram, Sita, Lakshman, and Hanuman—on the temple’s first floor is being carried out in strict adherence to Vedic traditions. The rituals are being conducted by learned priests under the guidance of religious leaders, including Saint Mithilesh Nandani Sharan, who underscored the deep spiritual resonance of the event.
“After Shri Ram Lalla was enthroned in the Garbhagriha (sanctum sanctorum) on the ground floor, the faithful have eagerly awaited the consecration of the Ram Darbar on the first floor,” said Saint Sharan. He emphasized that the ceremonies, rooted in time-honored customs, reflect profound devotion and reverence.
In addition to the Ram Darbar, multiple other sanctums within the temple complex are also being consecrated. These include idols of key figures from the Ramayana, such as sages (Rishis), Nishadraj, Mata Shabari, and a statue of Swami Shri Tulsidas Ji Maharaj. According to temple authorities, these installations aim to celebrate the collective spiritual legacy embodied by the epic.
“The consecrations enrich the temple’s spiritual tapestry and awaken the consciousness inspired by the Ramayana,” said Sharan.
Security across Ayodhya has been significantly intensified in light of the large gatherings. The Ram temple has been designated a red zone, with Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) personnel, armored vehicles, and round-the-clock surveillance units deployed throughout the city to ensure the safety of pilgrims and religious leaders.
The rituals were preceded by a grand religious procession from the banks of the Saryu River on Monday, drawing enormous crowds and ushering in the atmosphere of devotion for the Pran Pratishtha ceremonies.
Religious leaders have also expressed appreciation for the support extended by the national leadership in facilitating the smooth conduct of the sacred event.
