GRANITE CITY, Ill. — The Wilson Park Pool in Granite City was forced to close Thursday following an act of vandalism that occurred overnight on Wednesday.
According to a statement from the Granite City Park District, flower pots, furniture, lifeguard stands, and signs were found thrown into the pool.
The district reported the incident on its official Facebook page and confirmed that it is cooperating with local police to identify those responsible.
Despite the disruption, officials indicated that cleanup efforts are underway, and the pool is expected to reopen on Friday.
