Banijay Germany is entering the live entertainment sector through a new partnership with French immersive show producer Lotchi, a Banijay Live company, to debut the acclaimed production Luminiscence in Germany.
The immersive experience, which blends historical storytelling with advanced projection technology, live choral and organ music, and a mystical narrative voiceover, will premiere on September 4 at St. Paul’s Cathedral in Münster. The launch coincides with the 800th anniversary of the cathedral’s foundation.
Originally conceived by Lotchi, Luminiscence will be locally produced by Banijay Germany’s Brainpool Live Entertainment and CAPE CROSS Entertainment Services. Following its sold-out success in France, where over 500,000 visitors attended performances in major cities including Paris, Bordeaux, Lille, Nice, Rouen, and Reims, the production made its international debut in San Sebastián, Spain, earlier this year. Germany becomes the third country to host the show.
Banijay Germany’s involvement in the live sector is anchored in Brainpool Live Entertainment’s extensive experience with national tour events, particularly in the comedy genre. CAPE CROSS Entertainment Services contributes its full-service technical expertise in complex event productions. Ticketing for the German run is being handled in collaboration with external partner Fever.
Ingrid Langheld, Managing Director of Brainpool Live Entertainment, highlighted the emotional impact of the production: “Luminiscence has made it its mission to tell the fascinating stories of special cathedrals. At a time when we are looking for enriching and captivating experiences, the combination of architecture, voice, music and light creates a unique and poignant atmosphere. We are delighted to bring this extraordinary cultural event to Germany.”
Manuel Meloh, Managing Director of CAPE CROSS Entertainment Services, emphasized the technical challenges and rewards of the production: “Cathedrals impress with their centuries-old history and spiritual atmosphere. The highest precision is required for the projection with modern 360° projection technology – especially when it comes to the precise alignment with the architecture and the sensitive handling of the complex acoustics. The technical implementation in such a room is demanding – but the result promises an immersive experience that will inspire the audience in the long term.”
Lotchi founder Romain Sarfati expressed enthusiasm for the German premiere: “Luminiscence was born from the desire to bring heritage sites to life through emotion, technology, and storytelling. With Banijay Live by our side, we’ve been able to scale this vision beyond borders. Germany marks an exciting new chapter, and we’re proud to collaborate with Banijay Germany’s exceptional teams to deliver this immersive journey to one of Europe’s most iconic cathedrals. Together, we aim to create unforgettable experiences that celebrate history and spark collective wonder.”
Luminiscence is scheduled to run multiple times per week in St. Paul’s Cathedral beginning September 4.
