The National Museum of Royal Barges will host a youth tour guide training program aimed at equipping young individuals aged 15 to 18 with cultural knowledge, fundamental English skills for guiding tours, and career inspiration. The initiative is scheduled to take place on July 12–13.
Phanombut Chantrachot, director-general of the Fine Arts Department, announced on Tuesday that the program encourages youths to utilize their free time productively by learning about the historic royal barges and their ceremonial processions.
The training includes instruction in basic English tailored for tour guiding and offers participants a chance to explore the Muslim community in Bangkok Noi district, fostering greater appreciation of local cultural heritage. The program also seeks to motivate young people to pursue careers in tourism and heritage interpretation, contributing not only to family income but also to broader national development efforts.
Participants who successfully complete the training will receive an official certificate from the Fine Arts Department.
Applications are open until July 6, with the list of selected participants to be announced on July 9. Interested youths can apply by downloading the application form from the National Museum of Royal Barges’ Facebook page. Additional information is available by calling 0 2424 0004.
