MAGGIE VALLEY, N.C. — After 15 years of closure and failed revival efforts, the iconic “Ghost Town in the Sky” theme park may soon be brought back to life.
Perched 1,050 meters above sea level in the mountains of western North Carolina, the once-popular Wild West-themed attraction was renowned for its scenic views, old Western-style buildings, and mountaintop rollercoaster.
Once a magnet for tourists, the park has long stood deserted, earning a reputation as “cursed” due to multiple unsuccessful attempts to restore it.
Now, hope for its revival is on the horizon. A prospective buyer from Florida has reportedly shown serious interest in acquiring the property. Plans are underway to transform the site into a family-oriented entertainment center, with a renewed focus on diverse musical offerings.
If the deal and renovation move forward as intended, the long-abandoned mountaintop park could see a fresh chapter — and potentially reclaim its place as a key attraction in the region.
