KITCHENER — The City of Kitchener has launched the next phase of its effort to update the Victoria Park Master Plan, inviting public input to guide the park’s development over the next decade.
City officials announced that the updated plan will be based on a thorough reassessment of current park conditions, patterns of use, and evolving community needs. “As part of the Master Plan update, we will be reassessing current park conditions, how the space is used and the community’s future needs, which will all inform a data-driven roadmap for improving, maintaining and operating the park,” the city said in a statement.
As part of this effort, sensors have been installed throughout the downtown park to collect data on usage patterns. These sensors will remain in place through September, providing detailed insights into how visitors interact with various park amenities.
The initiative has now entered its second phase, which focuses on community engagement. The first public consultation, held under the banner “Conversations in the Park,” took place on May 23. A second session is scheduled for July 18 from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Victoria Park Pavilion.
City staff are encouraging residents to share their thoughts on what aspects of the park they value most and what improvements they would like to see in the future. In addition to attending in-person events, community members can provide feedback through the city’s online platform.
The updated Victoria Park Master Plan will serve as a long-term guide for enhancing, managing, and sustaining one of Kitchener’s most cherished public spaces.
